This is the English translation of the request I sent at August, 12th to all parties which will participate at election to the german Bundestag on September 27th. This is a part of the article series Party opinion poll. Within the coming days I have planned to publish the answers I got from the different parties.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am running the website, which is meant to encourage
the discussion of political events in Germany. I am no member of any
political party nor active on behalf of any political organization. In
consideration of the coming elections to the German Bundestag on September
27th, 2009 I plan to publish a survey among all political parties which
are approved in this election. This email has been sent in the same words
to all of these parties (please see appendix).

I want to ask you for a brief statement on the questions listed below. If
possible I will publish the complete content of your answer. If you do not
want your answer being published in whole or in parts please MARK THIS
CLEARLY. If you are interested in the publicication of your answer I would
beg you to send it to me not later than August 29th, 2009.

Furthermore there is an english version of this website at I would like to translate your answers into english
language to publish them there as well (of course I would mark this
translation of mine there). I will not do this without your given
permission to do so. It would be even better if you are able to send your
answer in an additional english translation of your own. In such case I
would split the german and the english version of your answer to publish
them on the accordant site.

Thank you in advance for your efforts,

Torsten Wolff

Here are the questions:

1. One theme of this blog is to focus possibly needless administrative
acts and to ask whether certain services are of public interest large
enough to grant access and use of these services free of charge. Possible
keywords might be: Radio and TV fees, local public transport, a termless
minimum income, tuition fees or fees for using the autobahn.

“In which cases the state can and should by legislation or by providing
money try to allow it’s citizens free access to services of public

2. The state as well only has limited financial funds. Next to a possible
raise on the income side money for other measures might be attained by
savings on the expense side.

“In which sectors the state should reduce or completely stop his expenses
in future?”

3. As this blog is an Internet website one theme should be focussed which
is not necessarily a central theme in the political discussion.
Nevertheless many active Internet users seem to feel to be misunderstood
in this question. To name some possible keywords here: measures of
surveillance, blockade of websites, broad access of the public to the
Internet, copyright infringements, protection of the citizens and general
legal certainty within the Internet, state-aided innovations in the
internet section.

“Which measures in the Internet sector do you approve or disapprove with?”

4. Of course each party has a focus of it’s own which is determining it’s
politics and it’s manifesto fundamentally. Please try as focussed as
possible to name and motivate your party’s main focus. Please try to
concentrate on the most important point. In case this is covered by your
answers to one of the previous questions already you might alternatively
name the next important point.

“Which is the central goal of your party and what measures will you take
to archieve it?”
